Ladislav Kamenicky, the Slovak finance minister, presented a new 2.7 billion euro consolidation package aimed at reducing the high budget deficit. The package includes measures such as freezing the 13th pension increase, cutting unemployment benefits, and raising taxes on high-income earners and sugary foods. The government expects to save approximately 1.3 billion euros through these measures, while also eliminating certain public holidays. The defense spending will remain capped at 2% of GDP until 2026.
