Robert Fico, the Slovak Prime Minister, announced in a Facebook video that Slovakia will no longer block the upcoming sanctions package targeting Russian energy revenues and military industry. He stated that continuing to block the 18th sanctions package would be counterproductive. The EU ambassadors will meet to approve the new sanctions, while Hungary has not yet made a similar statement. The proposed package includes a variable price cap on Russian oil and bans on trade through the Nord Stream pipelines. Slovakia has contracts to buy gas from Russia until 2034, but the EU aims to completely phase out Russian energy by 2028. Teljes cikk (Portfolio.hu)
