Magyar: The new Hungarian Parliament expected to be formed in early May

Péter Magyar, chairman of the Tisza Party, met with President Tamás Sulyok at the Presidential Palace to discuss the formation of a new government and the possibility of direct presidential elections. They talked about amending the Fundamental Law to strengthen presidential powers and the current weakness of the presidential office in Hungary. Magyar urged Sulyok to step down voluntarily after the government change, while also addressing the need for reforms in anti-corruption, judiciary independence, press freedom, and academic autonomy. The inaugural session of Parliament is expected around early May.
