Measles cases in Europe surged by over 200% in 2023, with more than 306,000 cases reported, up from around 99,700 in 2022. Globally, there were 10.3 million cases, a 20% increase from the previous year. The rise is attributed to stalled vaccination coverage, with only 83% of children receiving the first dose of the vaccine. Romania reported the highest cases in the EU, exceeding 14,000.
