Karol Nawrocki, a newly elected opposition candidate, took his oath of office on June 1, attended by government members and outgoing President Andrzej Duda. In his inaugural speech, he emphasized the need for the government to fulfill its election promises and announced plans for a major airport project between Warsaw and Łódź. He also pledged to prevent illegal immigration and support Poland's EU membership while maintaining national sovereignty. Nawrocki criticized the current state of the rule of law in Poland and vowed not to appoint judges who violate the constitution. His speech was well-received by supporters from the Law and Justice party, while Donald Tusk expressed concerns about Nawrocki's tone and potential consequences. Nawrocki, a historian and former director of the Second World War Museum, was selected as a presidential candidate by Jarosław Kaczyński. Teljes cikk (Portfolio.hu)
