Nepal's mountaineering community celebrated International Everest Day, marking the 72nd anniversary of the first summit of Mount Everest by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. The event, led by Nepal's minister for culture and tourism in Kathmandu, included a city walk and gathering at the old palace. Ang Tshering emphasized the importance of recognizing the achievements of Hillary and Norgay. The celebration also marked the end of the spring climbing season, with 468 foreign climbers receiving permits to climb Everest.
