A new major road, Via Baltica, connecting the Baltic states to Poland was inaugurated amid rising tensions with Russia. Polish President Nawrocki and Lithuanian President Nausėda emphasized its importance for regional defense and economy. The road, part of the European route E67, enhances NATO's response capabilities. Construction took over 10 years and cost €2.6 billion, with EU funding. A companion railway project, Rail Baltica, is also under construction but faces delays and cost issues.
