From 25 February 2026, nationals from 85 countries will need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to enter the UK. This digital permit allows short stays for tourism or family visits and aims to streamline the immigration process. British and Irish citizens are exempt, but dual citizens face complications. The ETA application costs £16 and can be done via an app or the UK government website. The UK government believes ETAs will enhance security and modernize the immigration system.
