The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has partnered with the UN's World Meteorological Organization (WMO) to address the crisis in winter sports caused by climate change. The five-year partnership aims to improve weather forecasting for ski federations and event organizers. FIS reported that 26 World Cup events were canceled last season due to weather issues. The WMO highlighted that climate change poses an existential threat to winter sports, with only 10 countries potentially able to host snow events by 2040.
