From January to July 15, 2025, Portugal experienced 3,370 rural fires that burned 10,768 hectares, significantly higher than the previous year. Shrubland was the most affected, and while the number of fires decreased compared to the last decade, they have become more aggressive. Évora, Beja, and Viana do Castelo were the most impacted districts. June had the highest number of fires and area burned.
