Footage of the Powelliphanta augusta snail laying an egg from its neck has been captured for the first time, revealing the unique reproductive habits of this threatened New Zealand species. Conservation efforts have been ongoing for nearly two decades to save the snails from extinction, as their habitat has been compromised by mining.
