Robert Fico, the Slovak Prime Minister, expressed his honor and happiness to attend the Victory Day in Moscow on May 9, 2025. He considers it a personal duty to participate in the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism. Fico has previously stated his willingness to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin for peace in Ukraine and has opposed Ukraine's NATO membership while in office. Since his election, Slovakia has only provided humanitarian aid to Ukraine. EU leaders have avoided visiting Moscow since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, with Hungary being an exception.
