Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu has resigned following the first round of the presidential election, where right-wing nationalist George Simion won 40.9% of the vote. Ciolacu's Social Democrat party will leave the government due to the coalition's failure to meet objectives. Simion's victory reflects public frustration over the annulment of previous elections, and his success is anticipated in the upcoming run-off against liberal Bucharest Mayor Nicușor Dan. Ciolacu will submit his resignation to interim president Ilie Bolojan. Teljes cikk (bbc.com europe)
