Japan's earthquake management expertise leads to the implementation of Italy's first Earthquake Early Warning System (EWS) on the Rome-Naples high-speed line, operational from May 3, 2025. The system, developed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana in collaboration with JR RTRI and the University of Naples, uses accelerometer stations to detect seismic waves and automatically manage train operations during earthquakes, enhancing railway safety and resilience.
