He emphasized the importance of consistency in applying principles, citing the exclusion of Russia from the festival after its invasion of Ukraine. Sánchez stated that Spain has always been committed to the festival, which promotes peace and diversity in Europe. He noted that other countries like Ireland, Iceland, the Netherlands, and Slovenia are also not participating for similar reasons.
