Researchers in South Africa rediscovered the Blyde Rondavel flat gecko, thought to be extinct for over 30 years. The gecko was found in a remote canyon in Mpumalanga Province, where it was first identified in 1991. The discovery, made by researchers Darren Pietersen and John Davies, involved a two-year planning process and resulted in the capture of several specimens, providing new data for conservation efforts.
