Spain plans to establish a national network of climate shelters in public buildings to protect citizens from extreme heat, as announced by Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez during a conference in Madrid. The initiative aims to address the increasing frequency of heatwaves and droughts exacerbated by climate change. Existing regional shelters will be supplemented by government-funded spaces in areas most affected by heat. Additionally, funds will be allocated for flood and fire prevention plans. The proposals are pending approval from the Congress of Deputies. Teljes cikk (bbc.com europe)
