The Spanish stock market regulator has authorized BBVA's takeover bid for Banco Sabadell, concluding BBVA's long efforts to acquire its competitor. The bid includes one BBVA share and a cash payment of €0.70. BBVA claims the offer is attractive and represents Banco Sabadell's best valuation in over a decade. Banco Sabadell has recently sold its British subsidiary and is implementing a strategic plan to boost shareholder returns, while BBVA promises higher earnings per share post-merger.
