A protein called HapA, emitted by the bacterium Vibrio cholerae, can induce cancer cell self-destruction, offering potential for new cancer treatments. The protein acts on specific receptors (PAR-1 and PAR-2) associated with tumor progression, leading to apoptosis. Research conducted by an international team, led by Spanish scientists, shows that HapA selectively activates these receptors, suggesting targeted therapeutic applications with fewer side effects.
