Syria's national government and Kurdish authorities have agreed to evacuate citizens from Al-Hol camp, which houses individuals with alleged ties to the Islamic State group. The camp holds about 37,000 people, primarily wives and children of IS fighters. An agreement was reached to return Syrian families to their communities, although future control of the camp by Damascus remains uncertain. The US has advocated for the repatriation of citizens from Al-Hol and Roj camps, which are seen as breeding grounds for extremism.
