Zbigniew Bogucki, the head of the Polish presidential office, denied claims that Karol Nawrocki's veto of the extension of a law supporting Ukrainian refugees would jeopardize Ukraine's access to Starlink. Bogucki rejected accusations from Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski, stating that the veto does not cut off Ukraine from Starlink, as costs are covered by existing legislation. Nawrocki's proposed law aims to maintain the current situation, with potential approval from lawmakers next month. Ukraine relies heavily on SpaceX's Starlink network for communication, especially along frontlines. Since the war began in 2022, Ukraine has received over 50,000 Starlink terminals, with about 30,000 provided by Poland. Nawrocki, inspired by Trump, promised to prioritize Polish citizens during his campaign and vetoed the original proposal, arguing that only working Ukrainians should receive family support and healthcare in Poland. Currently, Ukrainian refugee parents are eligible for monthly family benefits if their children are enrolled in Polish schools. Nawrocki won the presidential election on June 1 with 50.89% of the votes, defeating Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski. Teljes cikk (Portfolio.hu)
