A French company, Solution F, is developing a retrofit kit called Twin-E that can convert old vehicles into hybrid electric ones in a day. Displayed at the Paris Motor Show, the kit allows cars to run in full electric mode up to 50 km/h before switching to hybrid power. The French government supports retrofitting as a complementary option to new electric vehicles, which are expensive. The Twin-E kit is expected to be available by mid-2025 at a cost of €8,500, or €4,000 with a subsidy.
