A Eurobarometer survey reveals that 74% of EU citizens believe their country has benefited from EU membership, the highest since 1983. Economic growth and job opportunities are cited as key benefits. GDP per capita has significantly increased in several member states, particularly in Romania and Bulgaria, which saw growth rates of 558% and 500%, respectively. The Purchasing Power Standard indicates improvements in economic conditions in new member states. The European Commission supports the view that EU enlargement has brought substantial benefits.
