Ursula von der Leyen has proposed a €2 trillion EU budget for 2028-2034, significantly increasing from the previous €1.21 trillion. The budget focuses on three pillars: €865 billion for agricultural and social policies, €410 billion for competitiveness, and €200 billion for external action, including support for Ukraine. New EU-wide taxes are proposed to generate additional revenue. The budget aims to be flexible and strategic, addressing various challenges faced by the EU, including the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical tensions.
