EU trade with Russia has significantly decreased since the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, with exports to Russia falling by 61% and imports by 89%. By the second quarter of 2025, trade volume dropped to its lowest since 2002, although the EU recorded its first trade surplus with Russia in over 20 years.
