Luxembourg has the highest food prices in the EU, while Finland leads in alcoholic drink costs. Romania has the lowest food prices, and Italy is cheapest for non-alcoholic beverages. EU inflation peaked at 9.2% in 2022 but decreased to 6.4% in 2023 and 2.6% in 2024. The OECD suggests increasing wages to help workers cope with inflation. Denmark is the most expensive for bread and cereals and fish, while Cyprus has the highest dairy prices. Poland and Romania have the lowest prices for oils and fats and fruits, respectively.
