New Eurostat figures reveal significant differences in working hours across Europe, with the EU average being 35.9 hours per week. Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia record the longest working weeks (over 40 hours), while the Netherlands has the shortest (31.9 hours), largely due to a high share of part-time employment. These variations are attributed to working-time setting regimes, the strength of trade unions and collective bargaining, employment structures, and the relative weight of different economic sectors.
