Over the past two years, hundreds in Europe have suffered from food poisoning linked to tainted tomatoes, primarily from Sicily. As of September 2023, there are 510 confirmed cases of Salmonella Strathcona across 18 countries. Italy has the highest number of cases, and the outbreak has also affected the US and Canada.
